Jason Goodwin and Simon Tiffin set up G&T Garden Tours to share our enthusiasm for the gardens and landscapes of Dorset and Somerset.
Sue Gilkes perhaps best describes our approach in an article she wrote for House & Garden:
Is this the ultimate holiday for garden lovers?
To explore the stunning landscapes, fabulous food and produce of this historic and beautiful region of England, we are offering three unique English garden tours in 2025.
In May and June, with groups limited to 12 people, we will pay unforgettable visits to the grounds of grand houses, and some of the most spectacular private gardens in England’s West Country. The price of the tour includes your 6 night stay at Symondsbury Manor, an eclectic and comfortable private manor house with a distinguished history, as well as delicious teas and dinners prepared by Caroline and Clare, with help from Dorset’s best cake baker, Haley. As usual we will be lunching at a variety of our favourite restaurants in this beautiful corner of south-west England. It’s all included.
G&T provides exclusive access to gardens that are not usually open the public. G&T also hosts incredible guest speakers, such as photographer Howard Sooley, on how to get the most from your garden photography, and cider enthusiast, James Crowden, on orchards.
No packing and unpacking, no long trips! Based for the week in a historic manor house on the Jurassic Coast, guests will enjoy splendid accommodation, excellent food – and an unforgettable horticultural experience.

The lure of the garden is dreamlike, primarily about things just beyond our grasp.
No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden.
Chilcombe is one of my favourite places and I truly love the garden.
The real point of a garden is to increase the value of our lives.
Whenever I arrive in my garden, I Make The Tour. Is this a personal idiosyncrasy, or do all good gardeners do it?
